London Youth Games

Description

Brief history: Since 1977, the London Youth Games has provided a unique season of events with the Capital, involving all 33 London Boroughs and 26 National Governing Bodies. The Games are free and open to all young people, aged between 7 and 17, living in or going to school in the capital. The Games offers competitive opportunities for participants of varying abilities and experience. It is organised and managed by London Youth Games Foundation. The Board of trustees is made up of representatives from the London Boroughs and a number of independent trustees.

Aim of the organisation: To work in partnership to inspire all young athletes to discover and achieve their sporting potential by providing high quality sports events by creating a calendar of sporting competitions, ensuring that these competitions meet the development needs of each sport and all athletes taking part; delivering competitions that lead to a quality athlete and volunteer experience; providing an outlet for young athletes to become and remain involved in all areas of sport (playing, coaching, officiating or volunteering); building strong partnerships with public, private and third sector organisations and by promoting the achievements of Games to motivate young people to commit to sport.
